  1. Hi! So I have fine, just above shoulder length wavy hair. From your description above it sounds like I might be one of the folks that you think would do better with a Black Orchid. Is that right? I really need root volume and I don’t need a massive bowl because I don’t have a ton of hair.

Thanks for all of your helpful posts! It’s helping me cut through the overwhelm. 🙂

Yes, it definitely sounds like it would be the best diffuser for your hair type and hair goals when it comes to styling x

I’m just reading this, and I’m bummed to see that the Diva Pro seems to be unavailable. Do you know if they’ve discontinued it, or is it a supply chain issue?

    1. Gabriella says:

Hey, I’m not sure what country you’re in, but it’s still available on Amazon UK and on their own website. It’s a really popular diffuser and often comes in and out of stock, so I wouldn’t worry that its’ discontinued.

Thank you for the post. I do have a question, I would love to order the first dryer you mentions but I live in the US. Is there another dryer you would recommend aside from the Dyson one? Mine just broke and am needing to purchase a new one.
    Thank you

    1. Gabriella says:

Hi Emily, I’m in Ireland and not familiar with the different dryers available in the US. I hear great things about the new Shark dryer though if you want to check that out.

      1. Thank you I will check that one out!

  4. Hey there!

Does the Diva Pro XXL Universal Diffuser fit your Lanai Blo?

    Thanks

    1. Gabriella says:

Yes! Apart from the Dyson, I’ve not come across a hairdryer that it doesn’t fit!

  5. Hi have you tried the ghd hairdryer and diffuser? (Air or Helio) It looks good,,expensive but half the price of a Dyson?

    1. Gabriella says:

I haven’t, but I’ve heard good things about it. I’m sold on my Lanai BLO as an alternative to the Dyson

  6. I purchased the Diva Pro XXL diffuser after reading this but I find the little rubber prongs stick to my hair and pull my hair out and also because my hair gets stuck to it it pulls out my clumps and causes frizz. Do you ever have this problem?

    1. Gabriella says:

No, that sounds like it’s down to technique tbh. The rubber prongs are great for creating root lift and volume.

  7. Have you tried the new Shark IQ? I have recently bought it and really like it and it seems to give me pretty curls, plus the dryer changes temp and air flow based on the attachment which I guess is the IQ part. It is comparable to Dyson, but 1/2 the price. Would love if you could post a review.

    1. Gabriella says:

Hey, I haven’t! That launched just after I published this post I believe.

  8. Thank you for this post! Super helpful xX
