TréLuxe Soothe + Restore Review
This TréLuxe Soothe + Restore Review features my tips, advice and application techniques for the Ultra Moisturizing Deep Conditioner, Aloe Vera Curl Primer, Curl Defining Mousse. And their newest launch, the Restorative Protein Mask, which is the only product that contains protein. The TréLuxe Soothe + Restore Collection is curly girl friendly, vegan, cruelty free, gluten free and naturally fragranced. Made with restorative, plant based ingredients and zero sulfates, silicones, parabens, phthalates, or artificial colours.
Ultra Moisturizing Deep Conditioner
Let’s start with the first deep conditioner from TréLuxe. Who are one of the few brands who really understand how to formulate products that are hydrating, but not heavy. The TréLuxe Soothe + Restore Ultra Moisturizing Deep Conditioner is suitable for all hair types and curl patterns. Formulated with plant based ingredients and humectants to add moisture, softness, bounce and shine to dull, dry, damaged, brittle and/or colour treated hair.
It’s concentrated, so you don’t need much. The balmy texture and consistency gives incredible slip for detangling. Which is essential if you have dry, damaged hair that’s brittle, snapping and breaking. I recommend using about a teaspoon to a walnut sized amount. Apply to soaking wet hair from the ends upwards, until you’re an inch away from the roots. This application technique prevents dry scalp, greasy roots and lack of volume. Ensuring that the ends and mid lengths of the hair get the moisture they need.
You can use the Ultra Moisturizing Deep Conditioner as a regular conditioner if your hair is particularly dry and damaged. Just leave it in for 2-3 mins and then rinse it out. But don’t rinse out fully if the ends are dry. Or you can use it as a deep conditioner when needed. 20-30 mins will suit most people but don’t leave it in longer than an hour. To boost the benefits and maximise the moisture, you can use it with a Curl Maven Thermal Heat Cap.
Restorative Protein Mask
My favourite product in this TrèLuxe Soothe + Restore Review, the Restorative Protein Mask is suitable for all hair types and curl patterns. It’s the only product in the Soothe + Restore Collection that contains protein. Formulated with Hydrolyzed Quinoa Protein, which is a plant-based source of protein. Strengthening limp and lifeless waves, curls and coils that feel too soft and fluffy and unable to hold a curl beyond a few hours on washday.
The TrèLuxe Restorative Protein Mask helps to tidy up wet frizz, which is a sign of over-moisturized hair. Improves the colour and vibrance of colour treated hair, strengthens brittle, weak and thinning hair. In comparison to other protein treatments and hair masks, it’s not the most potent – but that’s not a bad thing. The TrèLuxe Restorative Protein Mask can be used more frequently to restore strength and bring some bounce back to your hair. But without drying it out, which can often happen with regular use of more protein rich products. I was most surprised by how much slip and shine this product has!
Aloe Vera Curl Primer
This is hands down TréLuxe’s most innovative product yet, designed to hydrate, smooth and detangle. I’ve never used something that’s so lightweight and hydrating, with so much slip, that can be used in so many ways. Formulated to provide incredible slip, shine and moisture to make detangling and styling effortless, quick and easy! The Aloe Vera Curl Primer can be left in the hair or rinsed out. Reducing detangling time and the amount of water needed to refresh – saving more time. And speeding up drying time – saving even more time!
The TréLuxe Aloe Vera Curl Primer is loaded with wetting surfactants that reduce water tension. Breaking the water down into smaller molecules, which allows for better product and moisture distribution. Using less water and saving time. Because smaller water molecules significantly decreases drying time!
The Aloe Curl Primer doesn’t just save you time when drying, but also when detangling. In a controlled study, using the TréLuxe Aloe Vera Curl Primer decreased detangling time by up to 70% for people with wavy and curly hair who struggle with knots, tangles and matting. That’s huge! Especially if you’ve got kids and washdays are filled with tears and frustration because of knots, tangles and matting.
There are four ways you can use the TréLuxe Aloe Vera Curl Primer. Firstly, as a lightweight, moisturizing pre-poo to prime for shampoo on washday. Secondly, as a super lightweight conditioner for instant slip and shine, which is how I like to use it. You can also use it as a primer, applied to wet hair after rinsing out your conditioner, to prep for styling products.
Or use it to refresh between washdays, applied to wet or dry hair. High performance wetting agents use the moisture in your hair and the environment to hydrate the hair without the use of direct water. Perfect if you don’t have time to wet your hair to refresh, reapply styling products and then diffuse or air dry.
Glycerin is third on the ingredients list which creates incredible shine. But you may want to avoid using this product in high humidity. Unless you want a tonne of volume and looser curl definition. My top application tip is to use less than you think you need. Apply to wet hair, working your way from the ends upwards. Curl Defining Mousse
The TréLuxe Soothe + Restore Curl Defining Mousse was the first product in the Soothe + Restore Collection. This non-drying foam is protein-free and alcohol-free. Formulated to define waves, curls and coils without weighing them down. This is the most concentrated foam I’ve used and gives definition, volume and hold. I get much better results when I use no more than 3-4 pumps for all my hair. Usually I’d apply 3-4 pumps per section! Which means this foam will last much, much longer than other foams on the market.
I’ve tried a few different styling combinations and application techniques with the Soothe + Restore Curl Defining Mousse. The styling routine that I’ve found consistently gives me the best results is to apply it as my last styling product! Once I’ve applied my favourite styling combo of TréLuxe Reflex Serum and Hi! Definition Gel upside down to wet hair, which you can watch in this Styling Video. I’ll stand up to brush style and part my hair, then I apply 3-4 pumps max to my hair as my final styling product. Before scrunching to encourage volume and enhance definition.
You can use it to refresh too, but I find it works best applied to wet hair. It works really well applied on top of the Aloe Vera Curl Primer. They’re a match made in heaven for the ultimate lightweight, hydrating and moisturizing styling combo. So if you like the results from the Reflex Serum and Hi! Definition Gel, but find them too heavy or just want something more lightweight. Then use the Aloe Vera Curl Primer followed by the Curl Defining Mousse instead.
