I thought I’d kick off 2019 with a post on who I’m following on social media. Who I learn from, inspires me, or indulges me in my love of skincare, makeup and interiors. With tips on how to find the right people to suit your look, curl type, style and personality. Not my usual type of post, but hopefully you’ll enjoy it, and find some amazing new accounts to follow!

Social Media Platforms
Here’s how I use the different social media platforms: YouTube: where I learn and follow tutorials. Instagram is where I spend most of my time, and love to engage, share, learn, inspire and be inspired. I like to read blogs and find out what’s going on outside my little world. And often it’s the closest thing I get to an adult conversation in the day! And finally, I’ve pretty much turned my Facebook feed into one big, personalised blog feed of people and groups I follow. I tend to steer pretty clear of Pinterest! The fear of falling down the Pinterest rabbit hole is real, and I’m not sure I’d ever be able to find my way back out.

Curls
I have a quite a few curl accounts I follow on all forms of social media, as you can imagine. And seeing as this is a curly blog, I’ll break this section down to make it a little easier to find some new amazing curl accounts to follow. I say “curl accounts,” but behind each handle and account is a real person, and we sometimes forget that.
What works for that person, may not work for you. Just because you don’t look like them, or share the same curl pattern, doesn’t mean you can’t learn from them, or connect with them. If you’re caught up on curl types, make sure you read this post on why it really doesn’t matter!

Waves
My favourite wavy to follow on Instagram is Megan, @wavycurlychronicles. She has so much knowledge from all her constant experimenting, research, trial and error. She’s also a great educator and has recently started a personal curl consultancy service. Her tips aren’t just for wavies, but for all curl types. Definitely give her a follow if you’re not already.

Honourable mentions for Alyson @reallifecurlygirl, Mandie @mandie.cg.journey, Mary Ann @goodgravyitswavy, and finally, Elaine @curlysue291.
Curls
I’m constantly singing the praises of my curly godmother, Daysie! If you’re a member of the Love Your Curls Facebook group, you’ll know exactly who I’m talking about. Also known as @curlswithdaysie, this amazing beauty is a wealth of information when it comes to curls. She has a heart of gold, and is incredibly generous with her time and knowledge. Please make sure you follow her on Instagram!

Honourable mentions for Marisa @marisacurls, Renée @brunettewithbounce, Jackie @mymanecurls, Kirsty @thekirstyfiles and Ruby @issabellaoliviaa. And of course, almost everyone’s curl crush, my favourite curly YouTuber, non other than Ayesha Malik, aka @spisha!
It’s not just about having a good hair day, it’s about what you do with that day.
Ayesha Malik, @spisha
Kinky Coily
I can’t start this without mentioning the queen, Felicia @hiF3licia! It’s easy to make the assumption that because your hair may not look kinky, coily or afro, you won’t have anything in common with, or learn from, those people. I say it all the time, I’ve already said it in this post. Curl type doesn’t matter! It’s about hair porosity, good techniques that work for you, and learning how to care for your hair. No matter what your curl type is, or isn’t.

Honourable mentions for quite possibly the most beautiful soul, and stunning fro on Instagram, Lal @curlygallal and Whitney @naptural85, who I love to follow on YouTube. Her flaxseed gel tutorial is the best out there!
Professionals
My two favourite professional curly hair accounts are Atoya’s Hair Studio., Not only are her tips and application techniques really helpful. She also has an online course, and is waving the flag for wavies! Evan Joseph Curls is another favourite professional curl stylist. His curl knowledge and style, both personal and interiors, are all off the charts! He has such a kind heart, an awesome attitude and all round aura.

Honourable mentions for Morango Curls – the most incredible skill for shaping curly hair, of all types. The before and after pictures are amazing!
Interiors
There’s a mix of brands and bloggers that I love to follow on Instagram. Not only for ideas on what to buy and how to style rooms for my new home. But also because the images, colours and themes are just so beautiful to look at! My favourite account is blogger, Kate La Vie. She’s no longer creating content for YouTube, but her apartment tour is a must watch!

Kate is also my absolute blogger goals, I can lose hours at a time on her blog, which is so beautifully designed and curated! Her writing and photography styles are unique and individual. I just want to be more like Kate! Honourable mentions for my favourite brand accounts on Instagram, Loaf, West Elm, and more recently, Home Polish. Lal’s home is also an interior design and cosy home dream!
Jewellery
I have had the pleasure of getting to know the most beautiful, infectiously happy and positive Chupi, at various blogger and fashion events in recent years. I’ve been to her studio, and didn’t want to leave; and even had the chats at the boarding gate in Dublin Airport! So much of her heart and soul is poured into every solid gold piece!

Another of my favourite jewellery accounts to follow is Carrie Elizabeth, which is more affordable for me. I’m also obsessed with stars, moons and crystals so her style is right up my street! I’m about to make my first purchase soon, which I’m very excited about!
Beauty
I love and adore Kathleen Lights like she’s my dorky, goofy but stunning, Cuban little sister! I’ve been watching her for years and I just adore her sweet, funny personality. I also love Allana Davison, her personality and sense of humour is hilarious!

For product recommendations and techniques that suit my face shape, eye shape, skin tone and type, I love to follow Teni Panosian. I’ve been following her for years too, she also has a stunning blog, and interior style! I have to mention another blogger idol of mine, Anna Newton from The Anna Edit.

I’m pretty sure it’s a sin not to mention Queen Caroline Hirons when it comes to any kind of beauty or skincare blogging! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting her in Dublin, we’ve had the chats and the emails. She was particularly amazing when I published my review of her Double Cleanse product with Pixi – coming soon on Curly Cailín.

Honourable mentions for Brittany Sully and Jose Corella, the makeup artist behind most of the amazing looks featured on Tamara Williams Instagram page. I love that he includes all the products he used for each look in the caption! Coincidentally, Jose was also the MUA for Kathleen Lights x Colour Pop Zodiac Collection.
That’s it for now! This post turned out much longer than I had initially planned. But hopefully you’ve found some amazing new people to follow. But I want to know, who do you love to follow, and why? Have I missed anyone? Is there anyone who you think is amazing that I should be following? Let me know in the comments below.
