Why April is The Best Time to Get Your Hair Cut in 2022
For some of us, especially if you’ve got wavy, curly or coily hair. Going to the hair salon can be a dreaded or even traumatic process. And so for many, it’s something we avoid and put off for as long as possible. For lots of reasons, such as unkind comments about our hair texture. How much hair we have, how hard it is to brush, manage etc. So if ever you needed the stars and planets to be aligned. Or you’re waiting for the energies to be in your favour and the Universe to have your back, it’s now! And that’s why April is the best time to get your hair cut in 2022. Let me break down why.
2022 is a Venus Year
Let’s start with the year, it’s 2022, which in numerology is a 6 year. (You add all the numbers of the year which gives you 6.) And the number 6 is ruled by Venus. Venus is the Roman Goddess of Love, and planet of love and money. And all love should begin with self-love, right? In astrology, planets that are closest to Earth, have the most influence on our lives. We can feel their energies the strongest, and Venus is one of those planets. So we feel her energies more strongly in our lives. If you’re skeptical, just visit any beach along the coast line during the four days after a Full Moon. The tide is always so much higher, and further up the beach, as the moon cycles and gravitational pull effects the tides and large bodies of water. WE are also a large body of water…
Venus is no longer Retrograde
Venus rules love and romance, grace and harmony, pleasure and charm, beauty and the beautifying process. As well as personal taste, aesthetics and attractiveness. If you didn’t see my Instagram post, Venus was recently in retrograde. Which means the planet appears to be moving backwards. When this happens, it’s not a favourable time to get a hair cut, colour or make any drastic changes to your hair! Venus Retrograde vibes can cause us to want to make dramatic changes and bold choices with our hair that usually isn’t the best idea and one we will most likely regret. You know like bangs, the big chop, blonde, balayage… that kind of stuff.
Trims and root touch ups are fine, but you’re better off and your future self will thank you if you hold off on the drastic changes until Venus is no longer retrograde. Past her shadow phase, which means the planet is no longer in a backwards motion. And has finished re-tracing her steps, “stationed direct,” which is the point the planet was at before it started (to appear) to go backwards/retrograde. And is now in a forward motion again. When Venus is retrograde, it’s especially important to avoid any bold colour choices that could end up damaging your hair! There’s only so much Olaplex can do. Venus is Exhaulted in Pisces
In your astrological birth chart, Venus rules how you love (yourself and others) and like to be loved. As well as how you spend your money, the types of gifts we buy, and how we like to treat ourselves and others. Venus, planet of love and money, rules over the zodiac sign, Taurus. A decadent and sensual earth sign, with a focus is on material things and sensory experiences. It also rules Libra, an air sign of balance, harmony and relationships.
But Venus is exhaulted in Pisces. This means all the Venus vibes and energies are enhanced, stronger and at it’s highest expression and potential when it’s in Pisces. Venus recently stationed direct on January 29th this year, and enters Pisces on April 5th. Making this another reason why April is the best time to get your hair cut in 2022.
It’s Aries Season!
As an Aries, I feel more clear-headed, centered and decisive about what I want during this time of the year. As soon as Aries season starts, I find myself immediately booking an appointment at the hair salon – or giving myself a DIY cut! I don’t know if it’s because it’s my birthday season, and I want a new shape or cut. Or if it’s more to do with Aries being all about the self, and ruling the head, including our hair. But every time I talk about this on social media. So many of you say you find yourselves doing the same. Let me know in the comments. Do you do this specifically in Aries season (March 20th – April 20th)? Or in your own birthday month or zodiac season? I’m so curious to know if it’s an Aries thing or a birthday month thing…or maybe it’s a Spring thing?
The Spring Equinox on March 20th or 21st (depending on where you are in the world) marks the start of Aries season! It’s the first sign of the zodiac, and the best time for new beginnings. You’re far better off, in a better mindset and will see better results if you set intentions and goals for the year ahead on the Aries New Moon. Than you are on January 1st, in the middle of winter, a slow, cold, dark, sleep season!
Ruled by Mars, Aries season is great for new beginnings and taking action. Fresh starts, clean slates, Aries energy empowers us to make bold, new, confident choices. The Sun, which rules our self-confidence and self-esteem, is exhaulted in Aries. Offering the perfect opportunity to be your bold, confident, unapologetic self and style. And because Aries rules the self, and more specifically the head (and hair). Its just another reason why April is the best time to get your hair cut in 2022.
New Moon in Aries
The New Moon in Aries on April 1st. Which is the perfect time to set your intentions, get some style inspiration and book that appointment for a new hair cut and/or colour. This is a positive and upbeat moon that will cause our confidence to soar. The energies of a new moon linger for about four days after the New Moon. New Moons are all about setting intentions, so don’t worry if you don’t get an appointment on this exact day. Because Aries is very goal-oriented and focused. It’s literally the perfect, most divine timing to go for something you want, especially anything related to the self. The entire month of April is the best time of the year to get your hair cut in 2022!
Mercury is in Aries
If you don’t already know, it’s never a good time to go to a new hair stylist, hair salon or get a new haircut or colour when Mercury is retrograde. Because it rules communication, ideas, inspiration and what we want can literally get lost in translation. Mercury Retrograde = Miscommunication. And thats’ the last thing you want when visiting the hair salon! And is most often the cause of bad experiences and outcomes when sat in the chair.
Mercury, the planet of communication, aligns with Jupiter, the planet of luck, good fortune and abundance, bringing us positivity and good fortune. But Mercury has just moved into Aries at the end of March until mid-April. Meaning communication is clear, direct and to the point. Which is exactly the type of communication needed when discussing a new hair style, colour, cut and shape with your hair stylist. Jupiter + Neptune in Pisces
But the absolute perfect date to turn dream haircut, shape or colour into reality. Or that you maybe never had the courage to go for, is April 12th. This is the date of a once-in-a-lifetime conjunction between Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces. Which hasn’t happened since 1856, and won’t happen again in our lifetime. So am I saying you could get the hair cut and colour of a lifetime on April 12th? Well, I’m not NOT saying that…
Astrologer Narayana Montúfar says, “This is the opportunity to use Aries’ non-apologetic and bold fire to plant the seed of a big dream that we want to manifest.” Another astrologer, Lisa Stardust, agrees that this day will be magical. Adding that “this is the most amazing time for manifestation. So make sure that you set your intentions and be clear on what you want to add to your life.” On April 28th, Venus conjuncts Neptune in Pisces. Which is another great day as you’ll get all the positive energies and benefits of those planets coming together.
Not just April 2022…
There are so many reasons why April is the best time to get your hair cut in 2022. But it’s not just this April! April or more specifically Aries season, or any time after the New Moon in Aries, is always the best time of the year to get your hair cut, coloured or a new look, colour, length or style. But it just so happens that in 2022, there are lot of other planets, alignments and conjunctions in the sky which make it extra favourable this year.
Some advice before you book your hair appointment…the cut
So now that you know all the reasons why April is the best time of the year to get your hair cut in 2022. Let me leave you with some tips and advice before you book your hair appointment.
