Hi, Any tips for people whose scalps are extremely sensitive — I react with strong itchiness (not flaking) and/or scalp breakouts with painful bumps. I can’t figure out which ingredients are doing it, but it’s always worse with styling products that stay in. My hair in extremely fine, and thinning… HELP! Anyone have this experience and have found solutions?

  2. Great recommendations thank you! I’m loving the Curl Keeper!

  3. Real quick clarification-Is it supposed to be…?
    (1) Leave-in conditioner
    (2) Muse or Foam or Serum (one of the 3)
    (3) Gel
    OR
    (1) Leave-in conditions
    (2) Muse or Foam (one of the 2)
    (3) Serum
    (4) Gel
And lastly: Is it supposed to be put on in that particular order?

Hey Tara, usually I recommend layering your styling products from the most lightweight to the heaviest. Which usually means moisture > definition > hold. You can use a one-and-done styling product, or you can use 2-3 styling products or more. It’s totally up to you and what gives you the results you want. Both options you’ve listed here look great, the best advice I can give you is to try both out for about a week or two and see which results you prefer. Play around with the amount of products and what order you layer them in.

  4. My hair is fine, but it is neither too little hair nor too much of it.
For me, I have found the best results with waiting for my hair to dry a little before applying anything. That way, the water and the products (gel-creme or cream+gel) do not weight it down, and I get some nice volume and definition.
I have never liked the look of it after diffusing, doesn’t matter the speed or the temperature, it always comes out a frizzy, dry mess.
I will use your recommendations to get a leave-in and something for hold. Thank you for the complete and handy guides! 🙂

  5. Hi! I’m noticing so many recommendations for fine hair focus on fine, thin hair. I have fine hair but it is dense – I have so much of it! Certain products will weigh my hair down which impacts the ability to hold the wave. Others don’t seem to create any cast. Wondering if these recs are good for my hair too? For example, the reviews on the innersense I create lift Volumizing foam seem to primarily be from people with fine, thin hair. I am struggling to find something that really works for me! I would so appreciate some tips!

  6. Hi !
Thanks for this post, i’m making notes and try to find where i can find the products in France.
It seems you like Klorane, have you seen that they launched a new range for curly hair ?
Furthermore, i don’t really understand what combinations of products i have to do / is possible ? Leave-in + mousse + gel + hairspray ? Or only leave in + gel ? Or anything else ? I admit that some examples of product combinations are missing.
    Thank you,
    Laetitia

Hey Laetitia, as far as I’m aware Klorane’s curly hair range focuses purely on moisture and hydration (in keeping with the curly girl method) but not protein, which is more in line with my curl maven method. Your styling products determine how your hair looks, so the products you choose will help you achieve that look. A leave in and gel will just as moisture and hold, but there’s nothing in that styling combination to enhance and define the curl pattern, so I’d recommend including a mousse. Check out my LMG styling method here.

      1. Hi Gabriella,
thank you for your answer. I made a mistake, it was not Klorane but Phyto Boucles (curls), the pink range. How do you find if there is protein in an inci list ?
I have fine curls and i use the giovanni direct leave in conditioner, then the umberto giannini curl whip mousse , and then the Aveda gel. I think that i don’t use a lot of each product, but on day 2 my scalp begins to be greasy…
