There are always new products on the market, and it’s fun to try them out. But I thought it would be helpful to share my most repurchased hair products and how long they last. From shampoos and conditioners, to hair masks and styling products.
So you know, despite the hype, sponsored content or the latest new product; this is what I still use, love and continue to repurchase.
As well as how long they last, because so many times people are experiencing issues with some of my favourite, highly recommended products. Simply because they’re using too little, or too much product.

My Most Repurchased Hair Products + How Long They Last
I know so many of you will have tried products and not got the results you were hoping for, or that others seem to rave about. Which then leads to buying more products, not seeing results and so the cycle continues. If you want to have consistent results, you have to have a consistent routine.
So the purpose behind this post is to give you a look at my consistent routine using my most repurchased hair products. My advice on how much product to use, and with consistent, long-term use, how long they last.
The most common problem I see in the curl community and Curl Clinics, is people are either using too much product, or too little. Flying through expensive products which often have more concentrated formulas. Not seeing results, simply because of application and technique.

My Hair Type + Routine
Before we get started, here’s a quick recap of my hair type, pattern, texture and routine. I have medium-high porosity hair – which means it takes ages to dry. My curl pattern is usually type 3 curly, but is a little more wavy at the moment – which means it’s not as defined as it normally is.
My hair texture is fine, but my density is high – which means I have fine hair, but a lot of it. I wash my hair twice/week, and do regular protein treatments, and use lightweight products, but a lot of them.
If you wash your hair more often, or have longer or thicker hair than me you may go through your products quicker than what I’ve recommended in this blog post. And the opposite if you’ve got shorter, or finer hair than me – you may end up getting even longer out of these products!
Hair 369 Hair Growth Vitamins
1 bottle lasts 1 month *when taking 2 capsules/day
I only recommend three brands of hair growth vitamins, as so many of the ones on the market are glorified multivitamins that don’t have the levels required to see real hair growth. But I love and use the Hair 369 Hair Growth Vitamins the most!
When I first started taking them, I didn’t see any results until the fourth month. I continued to take them and tripled my hair length in 18 months, despite cutting and trimming my hair five times during that time!
They absolutely work, but you need to take them consistently, for at least 3 months to see any visible hair growth – both in length and density. Hair 369 ship worldwide, and I always pick up the bundles to save money, and save on shipping. CURLMAVEN for 10% off.

Bumble + Bumble Sunday Shampoo
1 bottle should last 2 years
First up, my beloved Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo. I’ve spoken about this hero, cult-favourite product of mine so many times on the blog and in Curl Clinics.
Fun fact: when I recommended this product during a Monthly Curl Clinic on clarifying, it caused such a spike in global sales that it was mentioned (along with my name) in an Estée Lauder Head Office Marketing meeting!!!

Every time it comes back into stock on LOOKFANTASTIC, you guys sell it out almost immediately. It’s back in stock right now, so pick up a bottle.
I recommend using about a teaspoon sized amount, and if you clarify your hair once/month – as recommended in this post on clarifying – then one bottle should last you 2 YEARS! Available around the world here:
- Worldwide: LOOKFANTASTIC – CURLMAVEN for 20% off
- Worldwide: Beauty Bay
- UK & IE: Boots
- Sephora
- US & Canada: ULTA
- AU & NZ: Mecca
- Amazon
Bounce Curl Clarifying Shampoo
1 8oz bottle should last approx. 4-6 months
This is another holy-grail, hero, cult-favourite product of mine which has been mentioned many, many times on the blog and recommended in countless Curl Clinics.
Bounce Curl Clarifying Shampoo is one of my most repurchased hair products since I started my healthy hair journey to get my waves and curls back in May 2017.
Bounce Curl Gentle Clarifying Shampoo gently cleanses without stripping or drying out the hair. It’s sulfate-free, colour-safe, vegan and cruelty-free.
It’s very concentrated, so I recommend applying about a teaspoon sized amount to soaking wet hair. If you think you need more lather or more product, add more water first.
The Bounce Curl Gentle Clarifying Shampoo is gentle enough to be used regularly, especially if you need to wash your hair more than once or twice a week.

It’s particularly good if you have any scalp issues and/or fine hair. If you have thicker, coarser or drier hair, I recommend the Bounce Curl Moisturizing Shampoo instead.
If you’re going through a bottle much quicker than 4-6 months, or your hair feels greasy, oily or weighed down, you’re probably using too much. Bounce Curl Clarifying Shampoo is available worldwide at:
- USA: Bounce Curl – CURLMAVEN for 10% off
- Canada: Curl Warehouse – CURLMAVEN for 10% off
- Ireland/EU but ship worldwide: The Clean Beauty Edit – CURLMAVEN for 10% off
- UK but ship worldwide: Kiyo Beauty – CURLMAVEN for 10% off
Joico Deep Penetrating Reconstructor
1 litre bottle should last 1 year
The Joico K-PAC Deep Penetrating Reconstructor is absolutely key if you have bleach or highlights. If you have fine hair, damaged hair. Hair that gets easily weighed down, over-moisturized or experiencing hygral fatigue.
Hair that is limp and lifeless, lacking volume, can’t hold a wave/curl and is just a bit “meh.” If any of that applies to you, this product will change everything! Protein is what gives the hair the strength and the structure to not only define a curl, but to hold it too.
It strengthens the hair and repairs damage and breakage. I’d be lost without this product. Available worldwide at LOOKFANTASTIC with 20% off using code CURLMAVEN.

I use quite a lot – about a tablespoon – and quite regularly, but no more than once/week. Especially when I had blonde highlights, read this post on how to maintain healthy hair when colouring if that’s you. It was also my product of the year in 2021, read this post for all my tips, advice and application techniques.
It’s one of my most used hair products, I just repurchased my third litre bottle – and one more for back up. Mostly because they’re such incredible value when you buy the big bottles at LOOKFANTASTIC with my 20% discount code, they’re in stock at the moment.
Innersense Colour Radiance Conditioner
1 10oz bottle should last approx. 10-12 months
This conditioner category is the one I struggled with the most when trying to find a product that suited my hair. Gave me enough protein for my high porosity hair, but didn’t dry it out. With just enough moisture but not weight it down.
The Innersense Colour Radiance Daily Conditioner is the only conditioner I’ve been able to use long-term, without causing any issues. Innersense is probably THE most concentrated brand of hair products on the market, which means you don’t need much product. They work best when applied to soaking wet hair and the bottle lasts much longer.
1 10oz bottle lasts me almost a year. Quick math makes that approx. 30c/washday! I know that might be hard to believe but I’ve had lots of Curl Clinic clients who have come back to me a year later and said they’ve only just run out of their Innersense Conditioner too!

Most people aren’t getting the results they want and often complain of dry hair when using Innersense Conditioners, because they aren’t using enough.
I think it’s because it says to use 1-2 pumps on the back of both the 10oz bottle, and the 32oz bottle – which dispenses much more product!
So if you have the regular 10oz bottle, I recommend using at least 3-4 pumps, I use 4-6 pumps. If you’ve got the larger 32oz bottle, I recommend applying 2-3 pumps.
Apply to soaking wet hair, and if you think you need more slip or more product, add more water first. You can get up to 15% off Innersense worldwide at the following:
- USA: Innersense Organic Beauty – 15% off your first order using code CURLMAVEN when you sign up to their newsletter
- Canada: Curl Warehouse – CURLMAVEN for 10% off
- Ireland/EU but ship worldwide: The Clean Beauty Edit – CURLMAVEN for 10% off
- UK but ship worldwide – Kiyo Beauty – CURLMAVEN for 10% off
Hairfinity Strengthening Amino Masque
1 8oz tub should last approx. 6 months *depending how often you deep condition
This will come as no surprise to absolutely anyone that one of my most repurchased products, ever – is the Hairfinity Strengthening Amino Masque! Outside of America, it’s incredibly hard to find. But I continue to repurchase it from Amazon.

This is my favourite protein-rich deep conditioner to mix about a teaspoon/walnut sized amount with my modified rice water treatment.
Which also means it lasts longer, as you use less. I can’t even count how many times I’ve repurchased this hair product, a lot!
Phyto Joba Moisturizing Mask
1 150ml tube should last approx. 6 months *depending how often you deep condition
The Phyto Joba Moisturizing Mask is my favourite hair mask if I’m going to use a heat styling tool on my hair – like I did in this video. It’s a great, affordable hair mask for all hair types and curl patterns. Hydrating but it’s not heavy.
The perfect balance of moisture and protein, without weighing the hair down, making it feel too soft, or drying it out. It’s quite concentrated so you don’t need much – about a teaspoon to a walnut sized amount. Less if you have shorter or finer hair than mine.
If you have fine hair that’s dry, damaged or just needs a little TLC. But you find that hair masks and deep conditioners weigh it down, or make your hair too soft, then try this mask instead. Available worldwide at LOOKFANTASTIC with 20% off using code CURLMAVEN. Also available on Amazon UK here.

Pantene Defined Curls Mousse
I mean, how could I not include my beloved Pantene No. 5 Defined Curls Mousse in a post on my most repurchased products?! I’ve been using it for almost 24 years! Which also means I couldn’t possibly count how many times I’ve repurchased this hair product.
I’m not even sure I can accurately tell you how long it lasts, because I always have several back ups and just crack open a new one as soon as I run out without a second thought!
Curl Confession: there was a rumour going around a while ago that it was being discontinued. So I bought enough to fill a small suitcase – I’m not even joking!
But seriously, this is the best hair mousse for all hair types and curl patterns on the market, ever! There’s no such thing as using too much. I lash at least 3-4 palmfuls into my wet hair on washdays!
There’s nothing in this mousse that will weigh the hair down, or dry it out. It’s silicone-free, curly girl friendly and absolutely a Curl Maven favourite!

I understand some people in the USA have said the formula has changed, I haven’t seen or noticed that here in Ireland or the UK.
Make sure you’re buying the No. 5 Defined Curls Mousse, and not the No. 3 Natural Curls Mousse – which has a much softer hold.
Pantene No. 5 Defined Curls Mousse works really well as a one and done styler – which is how I used it for almost 20 years! It also plays really well with other styling products, such as leave in conditioners, serums, foams, mousses, gels and custards.
It’s available in supermarkets in the UK & Ireland – usually reduced to half price once/month. Or Amazon in the USA & Canada.
TréLuxe Reflex Serum
1 8oz bottle should last approx. 4 months
Most loved, most repurchased. If you want ringlets in a bottle, then let me introduce you to the TréLuxe Reflex Serum. As if I haven’t already raved about this product enough on the blog!
I use this every single washday as my first styling product. When I’m not using it, it’s because I’m testing out another styling product, but I always come back to it and just love the consistent results it gives me.

TréLuxe Reflex Serum plays really well with lots of other styling products, such as leave in conditioners, mousses, foams, gels and custards. I’ve repurchased at least 10 bottles of this holy-grail hair product!
I’m quite liberal with it, applying a total of 2-3 teaspoon sized amounts to my wet hair. It has a medium hold, but never weighs my hair down.
You can watch my TréLuxe Styling Routine in this video, to see how I apply it. Or you can read my best application tips and advice in this blog post.

Flora & Curl Curl Volumizing Foam
1 bottle should last approx. 2-3 months
Hands down, the Flora & Curl Curl Volumizing Foam is my favourite foam for wavy and curly hair! I’ve spoken about this loads on the blog and regularly recommend it in Curl Clinics. It’s the most hydrating foam I’ve tried, and also the most defining.
I’m continually trying different foams to see how it compares. It’s one of my most repurchased hair products since I first starting using it at the start of 2022. It’s great for volume, body, texture and movement – just like any foam.
But what makes this foam stand out from the others, is that it also gives definition, ringlets, curls and clumps. It gives me the same results that I get from the TréLuxe Reflex Serum, and that’s saying something!

Perfect for all hair types, but especially fine hair that lacks a little volume and body, and gets easily weighed down. Or if you want great definition, but a softer hold than a mousse or gel. The Flora & Curl Curl Volumizing Foam works really well with so many other products too.
I apply a total of 8-10 pumps throughout my hair. Available worldwide at LOOKFANTASTIC with 20% off using code CURLMAVEN.
TréLuxe Hi! Definition Gel
1 8oz tub should last approx. 3 months
I tried out so many gels for years, trying to find the one that worked best for my hair. And I finally found it: TréLuxe Hi! Definition Gel! It gives amazing, long-lasting hold and incredible shine. As well as creating those big, thick, juicy curl clumps I’ve become known for.
It’s a hybrid of a custard and a creamy gel that’s lightweight in texture, medium to strong hold, glycerin-free and perfect for providing long lasting, frizz-free curl definition, shine, hold and curl clumps!

I’ve repurchased tubs and tubs of this gel so many times since I first started using it in 2019 – 10 in total I think. It’s pretty much the only gel I use when I’m not testing out others. I use about 2-3 teaspoon sized amounts when styling my hair on washday.
- USA: TréLuxe – CURLMAVEN for 15% off
- Canada: Curl Warehouse – CURLMAVEN for 10% off
- EU: Sari Curls
- UK: Kiyo Beauty – CURLMAVEN for 10% off
- AU & NZ: The Curl Store
Top Tip: Use the amount you think you should use for your hair. If you don’t get the hold you want, use more. If you use too much, you’ll get white flakes and your hair will be weighed down. Reduce the amount to you get the hold (and volume) you want, without the white flakes.
Bouclème Curl Defining Gel
1 300ml bottle should last approx. 6 months or up to 1 year *if you just use it for refreshing
I don’t know how many bottles of Bouclème Curl Defining Gel I’ve repurchased over the years, but I know it’s been quite a few!
This is the best and my favourite gel for refreshing waves and curls in between washdays. It’s so incredibly lightweight, the texture is a creamy, serum-like, watery gel.

Perfect for fine hair or if you want a natural, effortless look. Bouclème Curl Defining Gel has a light-medium hold, and gives incredible shine. It’s not super concentrated, but that’s one of the things I like about it. And why I recommend it so much in Curl Clinics, because it’s incredibly user-friendly.
It’s hard to go wrong with this gel, or use too much. I use about 3 teaspoon sized amounts per washday, but less if I’m just using it to refresh. It’s great for kids hair too, as well as slicking back flyaways and frizz when putting your hair up into a ponytail or bun. Available worldwide at LOOKFANTASTIC and 20% off using code CURLMAVEN.
